AURORA - There is one suspect in custody after 14 people were shot and killed at the Century 16 Movie Theaters at the Aurora Town Center.

There were at least 50 people injured to Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates.

Oates says 10 died at the theater and four died at the area hospital.

Nicole Williams, with Swedish Medical Center, says the hospital was allerted to a mass casualty incident at 1:15 a.m. Friday.

Williams says the hospital was told to prepare for at least 20 patients.

According to witnesses, the shooter kicked in the emergency exit door in theater 9, threw some sort of disorienting smoke bombs and started shooting.

The captured shooter has been identified as Mohammad Alam, an Iranian immigrant. The identity of the other shooter is still unknown, Oates states.

October 2013 Hearing Notes

Spending hours and hours in that courtroom pays off when you get to witness gems like this.  I wanted to crawl under a rock for some of these officers and detectives when Tamara was questioning them.  This isn't even the half of it. Come on now, they FORGOT to audio record James during his interrogation, then the recorder was "accidentally" turned off, and NO ONE took any notes?? Then each officer had a different story about who dragged James to the dumpster and searched him a second time. I know they weren't allowed in the courtroom while each other was testifying but don't you think they spoke beforehand at least to get their stories straight? Did they forget what they said on the stand back in January? Hearing them testify back to back and hearing the lies and discrepancies while everyone glanced at each other inside the courtroom suspicious and confused was pretty shocking but awesome at the same time. And detective Appel who was the detective in charge of the entire case "doesn't remember" if James' parents hired a lawyer and doesn't recall the MANY times she called him and spoke to him that day.  He doesn't even remember that a public defender was waiting in the jail lobby all day begging to see James, even though they spoke face to face. "Oh yeah, I think I might vaguely remember that" AFTER Tamara handed him his own written notes from that day to jog his memory! Boom. Give me a break. Each time an officer entered the courtroom to testify, James made eye contact with each one and watched them take their seat with his head held high, like he was noting who wronged him.  Each officer seemed to avoid looking at James.

October 2013

After James was arrested and taken to the Aurora Police Department, he was video interrogated but only part of the time because they forgot to hit the record button. His shirt was halfway ripped off his body and he was in his boxer shorts. They didn't get him down to his T-shirt and boxers until after the second search of him that the police conducted, pulling him out of the police car because he was "fidgeting" and still had his gear on. They testified that they didn't hurt or harm him in any way and James never complained or said 'ouch.' James asked for water and OXYGEN during the questioning. (Shortness of breath is a side effect of scopolamine, just a fact). When they asked him if he wanted them to bring in a fan or call an ambulance he replied, "No." When they asked him if he needed help he replied, "Do you mean counseling?" Which Daniel King argues he really was asking for "counsel" because he wanted a lawyer. When someone FINALLY read him his Miranda rights over two hours after his arrest (should have been done while he was being handcuffed), James simply stated, "Miranda" and that he wanted to "invoke his fifth amendment rights" and wanted a lawyer. It was stated that immediately after this, James stopped talking.  Oh, but then how did they dismantle all those bombs with his help? *EYE ROLL.* If you're going to lie, at least keep your stories straight.

That same morning after the shooting occured while his father Robert was on a plane heading to Colorado, James' mother contacted a Denver attorney to represent him, Iris Eytan. Iris immediately called the Aurora city jail where James had now been transferred to, right next door to the police department he was previously at. She left Detective Appel multiple messages trying to reach him and let him know that Mr. Holmes was now being represented and to not speak to him anymore under any circumstances. When she finally did get in contact with him, he asked her if they could ask James some more questions. She said, "NO. Absolutely not."  Today he didn't remember if the Holmes family had ever even hired a lawyer and said he didn't know, "maybe someone in California?" I will never forget the way Tamara replied, "Do you remember his parents hiring a laywer in DEN-VER?!" That woman is such a power house.

Today we heard from SWAT, FBI, Iris Eytan, and Det. Appel who handled the case. Once they learned the severity of the booby trapped apartment "something none of them had ever seen before ... highly sophisticated", they realized they needed to ask James how to diffuse the situation.  This is bomb squad, people .. they each have decades of experience. THEY FLEW OUT EXPERTS FROM D.C. I know James is a scientist and all but come on.  I specifically remember Chief Oates' press conference stating that James' work was stuff that could only come out of highly trained military. A brain scientist though, about to become a doctor? But they said "they needed to get smarter" and talk to James. The reason Appel wanted to ask James more questions was because they wanted to diffuse these bombs, otherwise they would have to take the entire building out and possibly damage nearby structures. James' family appointed attorney Iris said, NO. Again. She knew that the public defenders office would eventually be handed the case and thought it would be a wiser idea to have them negotiate all of that information with James. But they went ahead and asked him anyway. James' response was, "Didn't you evacuate the building?" This time it was not video recorded because THIS building doesn't have that capability. James' attorneys implied that he should have had James transferred back next door to have this interrogation recorded. He said that he did audio record some of it but only the last half because the audio recorder accidentally shut off. No notes were taken and much of the audio is not able to be understood.

They interrogated James without letting him know that anything he said could be used against him. They said James was very tired and very soft spoken. He wasn't even cuffed, only his feet were shackled and they didn't feel the need to carry guns. At this point it was only two of them questioning James, they clearly didn't fear a "mass murderer" they knew nothing about. They said they did not re-Mirandize him because he had already asked for a lawyer (even though that request was blatantly ignored). Mr. King (one of James' current attorneys) had been in the lobby of the Aurora city jail now for hours, begging to see James. He was rebuffed repeatedly and told by Appel, "Not at this time." Today Appel stated that he was never even told that anyone was appointed as James' attorney, or that King was asking to see him. Though King says they spoke multiple times. The frustration displayed by Daniel King by this was so sincere and pained, I felt for him. Plain and simple, the lead investigator of this case did not want any lawyers (anyone) to see James.

During one witness interview (Detective Mehl), King pointed out that the timestamp on the video interrogation doesn't correlate with the 2:30 AM time they were supposed to have been interrogating him. King asks him why this is and he replies "I have no idea what you're talking about, I didn't see that." If that's not shady I don't know what is.

We heard from one of the bomb squad technicians that testified that the white spine board was slid underneath James' car by him because "it had been left there by an EMT and had blood on it" and he "didn't want to track the blood anywhere." But during the preliminary hearings back in January 2013, he testified that he had used that spine board to maneuver a camera under the car to search it. Why did his story change? He also stated yesterday that he needed to use the bomb robot to break the car windows and that the car keys were placed on top of the car but it was closed and locked. But we have already heard so much police testimony saying that his driver door was ajar when he was arrested. Since bombs were suspected to be inside the car, nobody would have shut it. 

One officer testified that it was him and only him that dragged James over to the dumpster area to be searched. Another officer stated that it was him and another guy only. And not a huge discrepancy but we got multiple accounts about which side of the vehicle James was seated on once inside the patrol car. But they DID fasten his seat belt and their tone with him was "friendly." How sweet. King pointed this out as being odd. Ya think? I just love how it's, "We made him very comfortable, we asked if he needed anything, we never hurt him..." His body was completely limp and he didn't show any kind of normal tension. He was detached. They said he showed no anger, and no signs of fear.

I was in the elevator with some media today and heard, "That was a bombshell. They're going to have some trouble now."

Also, I really hope I don't seem insensitive at all. But each cop testified the amount of blood and carnage going on in the back of the theater during James' arrest while everyone was running out. Gunshot wounds to the head, the chest, limbs, etc. Yet only one single blood trail. I wish this didn't bother me. How did nobody see his arrest taking place, also?
 
I have never seen Tamara Brady so MAD and passionate about James not being able to speak to anyone! I cried a little. His attorneys really do care about him a lot. She was fighting hard for him today.

That evidence bag puppet rumor turned out to be true (according to detectives), James did use gunshot residue bags as hand puppets. He also asked if they were for popcorn.  See, this confuses me: They were relying on this boy to diffuse extremely sensitive and technical bombs and wanted his "smarts and expertise" ??? So what is it?  Demonic killer that was so intelligently brilliant that the bomb squad couldn't figure out his devices, OR so mentally insane that he was in his own world seeing rainbows and unicorns?!

Those Extra Gas Masks

Before we begin, let me make something clear to you:  Officers that were at the theater shooting crime scene testified that there were FOUR gas masks found (NONE of them belonged to cops) and only TWO of them belonged to James.  At least three of these gas masks were found on the ground outside of his car.  Why would he have so many? And why would he take them all out of his car and leave them on the ground? WHO DID THE OTHER TWO BELONG TO? Now that we got that out of the way.... For months and months we saw photos of the back of the theater (crime scene) and wondered where those extra gas masks came from.  Especially since one was dropped on the FAR south east corner of the parking lot, near Sable Boulevard.  It was as if someone was running away from the theater WITH a gas mask and dropped it before getting to the main road.  We've definitely seen that distant gas mask that I'm speaking of, previously.  It was marked as evidence #1 right next to that knife that was covered by a piece of paper and then so conveniently photoshopped out by CNN. Remember that? The photo that when clicked on, took you straight to a photoshop artists website? Then the director of CNN resigns shortly after? Just wanted to jog your memory for you a bit:

Yeah. Many people assumed the gas mask belonged to officers that were at the scene but we all know that they're capable of determining which gas masks are officer issued and which ones are not, since that's how they supposedly figured out James was a suspect. *Eye roll.*  Besides, they wouldn't mark their own equipment as evidence.  So during the preliminary hearings in January 2013, an officer that was at the scene testified on the stand that he accidentally picked up one of James Holmes' gas masks, walked about a hundred feet, and dropped it there.  Seems legit.

When news reporter Jessica Fender was questioned further about this, she stated that it was "too complicated for 140 characters".  I'm sure it is.

Front driver's side we can see another gas mask next to some strange tank object that nobody's really been able determine what it is.

Total rounds allegedly fired by James: 76
72 injured a person and one was fired into the ceiling so we have 73 accounted for. This means that out of 76 rounds he fired, he only missed 3 times which were the grazing wounds.  For someone with zero weapon experience and wearing a gas mask in a dark theater, he's a pretty good shot.  He didn't miss anyone, not once.

Another thing to note about the bullet wounds is that the coroner's report for Jon Blunk states that he was shot four times by four different guns. What?

But we already know that he only took three guns inside the theater with him, and left the fourth in his car.

Testimony Inconsistencies Part I

When I attended some theater shooting hearings in October 2013, I was fortunate enough to hear testimony on the stand from multiple detectives and officers that were there that day.  One person is FBI special agent, Garrett Gumbinner. Unfortunately, there are no media articles that state exactly what he said about that spine board, so you're just going to have to take my word for it. The spine board in question has been a debated topic as nobody understands why it was shoved underneath James Holmes' vehicle at the crime scene. I've always believed it to be suspicious because it's just thrown under there, almost as if to hide it. What is it doing there amongst delicate evidence? And don't forget about those shattered windows on the passenger side of the car. Was someone James inside that car incapacitated and needing to be broken out and carried?

Mr. Gumbinner stated during his testimony on the stand in October 2013 that he believed that it belonged to EMT and noticed some blood on it. He was about to search the vehicle for bombs so he didn't want to "track blood anywhere." What better place to put it than underneath the car that you're about to search for incendiary devices? That sure gets it out of the way! This wasn't the first time that Garrett Gumbinner had testified on the stand about that spine board. At the preliminary hearing in January 2013, Blue Thunderr wrote up a very detailed summary of what was said. Thank goodness for her because I would have never caught this major discrepancy otherwise, since there are no articles mentioning it. Anyway, she heard Gumbinner state that the spine board was put under the car so the bomb squad could look under it. Seems safe, no?

Corbin Dates "Didn't Expect That At All."

Corbin Dates AKA Corbin Kent, aspiring actor and model, was seated towards the front of the theater (third row I believe), when he saw a man with a goatee take a phone call towards the exit. The same exit in which a gunman would enter just minutes later and cause a massacre. Corbin's witness testimony on day one states that he saw the man standing at the (ajar) exit door making gestures, as if to beckon someone over to him. There is no mention of bright red or orange hair whatsoever until that becomes a problem later on, obviously.  So he clearly doesn't recognize James Holmes. Who was the man with the goatee? If only the reporter asked him if James was the man he saw exiting the theater. Simple, right? Guess not. Anyway, we can see from these interviews done in the few days after the shooting that Corbin looks uninjured and fine.  Well, according to police testimony at the preliminary hearing in January 2013, Corbin Dates was shot in the arm. !!! Uh, okay then....

Also at the preliminary hearing, Sergeant Fyles testified not only to the gunshot wound to Corbin's arm but also that Corbin actually DID see red hair sticking out of the man's beanie.  Well, whattya know? Pretty significant detail to just forget about in the beginning, huh?  I just can't anymore with these people. Was it "Lie for us and we'll add you to the victims list so you can be compensated appropriately"?

Scopolamine AKA Devil's Breath AKA The World's Scariest Drug

It has been my belief from day one that scopolamine was possibly used on James Holmes. I remember receiving an email from my father a few months before the shooting, warning me of this drug being used by people to incapacitate victims.  It's as easy as slipping someone a business card or even blowing the drug in their general direction.  Once the drug takes effect, the victim is at your every whim and will not remember a thing.  People empty their bank accounts because they completely lose their free will and any memory of the event. How scary to imagine who might have this drug under their control.

We obviously can't tell for certain if James had ALL the side effects of scopolamine but from his first mugshot photo and various statements we've heard from police, it's a definite possibility.  We've seen his dilated pupils, flushed skin, reddish eyes, and how out of it he was during his first court hearing.  The cops have also testified that after having been placed into the police car, James Holmes was pulled out again because he “was fidgeting a lot in the back of the patrol car.” Subsequently, police officers removed all of James’ clothes, “down to his underwear” while one officer held each of his arms. Sounds like he was restless.  During his arrest, James was described as “dripping with sweat,” “very relaxed,” “detached from it all,” “not having a normal emotional response,” "staring off into the distance and he seemed disoriented." Also, "his pupils were big.” However, the arresting Aurora officers "did not have any reason to believe he was on drugs or alcohol."  Subsequently, James Holmes was never tested for drugs or alcohol.  During one of last month's hearings I heard testimony from one of the detectives that interrogated James right when he was brought to the jail. He stated that when asked if he needed anything James replied, "water and oxygen."  If I had shortness of breath I would ask for water and oxygen too. 

Side Effects of Scopolamine

• dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
• eye pain
• flushing or redness of the skin
• mood or mental changes

• seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
• shortness of breath
• slow or irregular heartbeat

• unusual tiredness
• unusually warm skin

Is it possible that James Holmes has no recollection of the events that took place that night?  Has he been told that he and he alone is the perpetrator of this mass shooting and with no memory of the events, how could he contest that?

The Suspicious Death of Nurse Jenny Gallagher

Nurse Jenny Gallagher AKA "The Nurse Who Saw Everything" was one of the trauma nurses at the University of Colorado where some victims of the Aurora theater shooting were taken and she reportedly treated many of them.  A couple days later, Nurse Jenny gets to meet Barack Obama during his visit to the hospital.  Cut to August 6, two weeks later, Jenny and her husband take a lake vacation in Iowa with their five year old son, Jack.  Late one night after her husband Greg and her son go to bed, Jenny and a friend decide to take the boat out on the lake.  Jenny decides to take a dip in the water and sadly, she would never return. Reports on when the first "missing person" call was placed are murky but it definitely took place sometime the next day.  A search for her was organized and her body was discovered under the dock, deceased. Why did her friend leave her in the lake at night, not notifying anyone until the next day? Did Jenny see something she wasn't supposed to? Who exactly did she treat? How come we never hear from this friend that left her alone in the water or even learn their name?  Why is Jenny's husband quoted as saying, “The hardest thing is I may never know what really happened to Jenny”?  Or maybe it's just another tragic coincidence. Accidents do happen.

1690 S. Moline Street

In the police audio from the Aurora theater shooting there is a request for officers to be dispatched to an address in Aurora, 1690 S. Moline Street, regarding at least three people dragging a body into an unknown vehicle.  The time of this dispatch call is about the exact time the movie theater was being gunned down.  People dragging a body into an unknown vehicle may seem like your every day occurrence in Aurora, Colorado but when you factor in what James Holmes' address was, things get a little bit suspect.  What are the odds that this occurred at almost the exact address at the exact same time as the shooting in the exact same town?  Not very high, I'm assuming.  Is it possible that the body being dragged was James and this was actually occurring at 1690 S. PARIS Street, his home address?  It would probably take three people to drag a guy of James' height. Was he knocked out and/or drugged to be arrested and conveniently planted as the patsy?

Yeom Pyo Lee and the Female Roommate

You would be hard pressed to find any information on this topic anymore, much less on that mysterious female roommate that supposedly lived with Yeom.  Yeom was James' classmate at Anschutz who threatened violence if James was not released.  Yeom was arrested for questioning and never heard from or seen again.  Did he know something?  This is not typical graduate med student behavior.  Neighbors of Yeom said his female roommate who normally left the apartment in business suits, left the day of the shooting wearing construction gear.

On November 1, 2012 some articles started coming out about a man named Joel Sinclair Corbett.  He strolled into the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin on October 28 (yes, the same one that Wade Michael Page allegedly shot up and killed six people before killing himself in August 2012) and wanted to talk to people, drink tea, and pray.  For some reason, police showed up and detained the man.  In his backpack they found duct tape, zip ties, ammo, strange writings about the Aurora shooting, and crime scene tape from the Aurora crime scene.  Interestingly, I posted this photo of my own crime scene tape from the Aurora theater just 3 days before that:

It wasn't easy to find, but I found some. I guess Joel did too. He was questioned and released. He had also visited the Azana hair salon in Wisconsin where Radcliffe Haughton shot and tragically killed his estranged wife Zena, a hairstylist, on October 21st four days prior.  I guess Joel really wanted to write a book.  That's the story at least.

That Mysterious Knife

Something that has always bugged me about the crime scene behind the theater in Aurora is that pesky disappearing knife located by one of the many gas masks which, by the way, did NOT belong to officers per police testimony at the preliminary hearings.  The story is that James decided to show up with multiple gas masks and left them all outside of his car.. Ok. But let's save that for another day. Not only is said knife and said extra gas mask located at the Southeast corner of the theater, quite a bit away from where the arrest took place and the suspects car, it was never even accounted for.  We heard testimony of a couple pocket knives found in James Holmes' pockets but that's about it. One minute it's there, albeit covered sloppily with a piece of paper, the next minute it's magically gone!  Why? Was it the cause of that blood trail leading back INTO the theater? Another topic for another day. CNN's photos show a lazily photoshopped image with a missing knife.  When one would click on the image on CNN's article, it would actually link to photoshop artist Karl Ghering's website. HA! Once word of this began circling the interwebs the head director of CNN, Jim Walton, resigned after 30 years. Coincidence or Conspiracy?

The Fitz Apartment Fire and Jimmy's Running Buddy

On July 30, 2012, just ten days after the Aurora theater shooting, the Fitz Apartments on Peoria Street and just a stones throw away from James Holmes' apartment, caught on fire. Tragically, two people were killed and twenty-five were injured. From the CNN interview with Abigail Quesada (James Holmes' neighbor) just days before the fire and from my visit to the Fitz Apartments, I can see from the surroundings that she lived here. Her revelation during this interview (again, just days before the fire) is pretty bombshell if you ask me.  She sees James Holmes (with orange hair) running down 17th street to his apartment with a stocky, white male.  Given the location of his apartment and the direction he was going, he was running away from his school campus (University of Colorado Anschutz, located directly across the street) headed home. Interestingly, many witness interviews at the theater describe the shooter as short and stocky.  James is far from it, he's tall and lanky.  So who was this short and stocky man with him when James was supposed to be frantically setting up those intricate improvised explosive devices that even the bomb squad and the FBI had never seen before?  Questions, questions.
